Work starts on new MS Therapy Centre
BUILDING work has finally started on the MS Therapy Centre’s new base in Bradley Stoke, Bristol.
Staff at the centre in Southfield Road Trading Estate are still fund-raising to pay for the new �1.15million centre which will be able to cater for more patients and boast bigger facilities.
The new centre will be able to help 450 people with multiple sclerosis (MS), extending to a further 600 people by 2015 when the services expand again in the second phase of the work.
The charity’s current building offers patients a wide range of treatments to ease the symptoms of MS including oxygen therapy, massage, acupuncture, counselling and physiotherapy, but the service has now outgrown its base.
Within Bristol, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset there are 1,700 people living with the life-long condition and around 100 new cases each year.
The new base will help staff to treat more patients more effectively, but the staff still need to raise more than �150,000 to reach their target.
