A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after sustaining ‘serious injuries’ while cycling.

The rider was found by members of the public in Marsh Lane, near Portbury Docks, on Tuesday morning.

Her injuries, Avon and Somerset Constabulary say, are consistent with a collision or fall.

Police are keen to track down and speak to a motorcyclist who was in the area at the time.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are particularly keen to speak with a motorcyclist believed to have been using the path at the time who may have witnessed the incident.

"He is described as a white man in his late-50s or early-60s, of stocky build, with grey hair and a grey beard.

"The bike was described as 'old' and possibly light grey."

"If you were on Marsh Lane on Tuesday morning or have any other information which could help the investigation get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5219217316.

"Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call."
