THE glamorous world of a supermarket checkout will be brought to life in the latest production to be put on in Pill.

Written by Louise Roche and directed by Debbie Burton, Checkout Girls is described as a ‘hilarious comedy’ which asks whether it is possible to find love in a supermarket.

The comedy is interspersed with popular songs and is set in the run-up to a supermarket singles night. It will be performed by Pill’s J19 drama group at the community centre in Church Place at 7.30pm on September 11-13.

Doors open at 6.45pm and there will be a raffle and a bar.

Last year, the group’s performances of Calendar Girls resulted in £1,200 being raised for Leukaemia Research. This year’s production will raise cash toward Alzheimer’s Research UK. In recent years the J19 group has also put on hugely popular productions of Old Ma Hubbard, Mama Goose and Dick Whittington.

Tickets, priced £6, are available from the post office in the Baltic Place precinct or on the door.
