A RNLI crew responded to reports of a man stuck in the mud at Clevedon on Monday.
Weston's RNLI volunteers were paged just after 3pm to sightings of a person in the water possibly requiring assistance.
The D class lifeboat, Adrian Beaumont, was launched and crews arrived on the scene a short while later.
Upon arrival, the man was found to already be in the care of the Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team who requested the lifeboat transport him to a waiting ambulance further along the shore.
The man was then handed over to the waiting paramedics.
The lifeboat was stood down by Milford Haven Coastguard, it returned to its temporary station and was washed, refuelled and made ready for service by 6pm.
