Weston Bike Night has been running for 11 years and raises funds for the Royal British Legion poppy appeal, totalling almost £110,000.

Every Thursday evening the group meets on the Beach Lawns to chat about bikes over a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.

The milestone 100,000th bike passed through on August 23, which was ridden by Richard Whiston of Nailsea.

Bike night volunteer Lyn Lovell said: “To reach such a huge number is a fantastic achievement.

“All bikers donate £1 on entry and everyone who collects money or makes a cup of tea is a volunteer.

“We have attracted riders from all over the UK over the years, the furthest known rider has come from Helsinki, in Finland.

“Thanks to all those who have helped run and support bike night since 2007 and congratulations to Richard.”
