HEAVY rain and strong winds are forecast for North Somerset this afternoon (Mon) and tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the area and warned the public of the risk of flooding.

The weather experts say periods of rain and strong wind will affect the South West at about 5pm, with the rain becoming particularly heavy on Tuesday before clearing on Wednesday morning.

Another period of heavy rain is expected on Thursday evening which will carry on into Friday.

Strong winds will reach gale force at times and 20-40mm of rain is expected to fall across the South West at the start of the week, which could rise to up to 70mm over higher ground.
