FUTURISTIC worlds, old castles and wrecked battlefields are helping to get young people away from televisions and computer screens, according to organisers of a new club in Portishead.

A recently formed Warhammer Club has proved a hit with youngsters. The club meets at Trinity Community Hall in Marjoram Way on Thursdays from 7-9.30pm. Organisers say it is an ideal way to get children doing something creative and imaginative.

After buying, assembling and painting their own small armies, a variety of games are played in teams or individually. Six themed tables are set up for club members each week, including a painting table.

Co-founder Sarah Souter said: “It’s an ideal opportunity to do something creative and imaginative. Everyone is welcome to come along and have a look without any obligation.”

Membership to the club which is suitable for those aged 11 and over, costs 2 per year plus 2.50 subs each week. For further information call Sarah on 01275 842300.
