Walking group celebrates success

A WALKING group from Nailsea is celebrating three successful years.

Nailsea health walk now has more than 50 people taking part every week and the voluntary leaders have been toasting the success of the programme.

The group is part of the national Walking for Health initiative and groups have been set up in six towns in North Somerset.

The regular walks, which are led by trained volunteers, have been organised to encourage people to stay active and improve their health.

North Somerset Council’s active lifestyles development officer Bob Hill said: “Walking for Health is a fantastic initiative. “There are groups all over the country and Nailsea is a great example of how the scheme works.

“The walkers really benefit from the regular exercise and many have made new friends through joining in with the health walks.”

The Nailsea group meets every Monday at 11am. Walks are open to anyone and set off from various locations in and around the town. To find out more call North Somerset Council on 01275 882 730.
