Colourful fairy lights lit up Portishead at the weekend in aid of a good cause.

Dozens of bright vans took part in December 9’s Vee Dub Christmas Cruz.

Motorists set off from Long Ashton, headed through Failand and Clevedon, before stopping off at the Lake Grounds in Portishead.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s fundraiser, organiser Steve Wright said: “We expect upwards of 150 vehicles to take part and the majority will be decorated with festive lights.

“The event is collecting presents for Bristol Children’s Hospital and Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary.”

The animal welfare charity, as previously reported by the Times, has put out an urgent call for support amid dwindling funds.
