Collectors are needed in Portishead for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

The town’s branch of the Royal British Legion needs volunteers to donate time for two weeks.

This year’s collection will begin on Friday.

A spokesman for the branch said: “We particularly welcome anyone who will be able to spare a couple of hours collecting for the annual Poppy Appeal.

“We will have various static collecting points in and around the town. All donations go to providing valuable support to serving and former servicemen and women, and their families.

“Alternatively, can you help in our Poppy Base, which will be situated in the youth centre? Please help us, to help those who need us.”

For more information, or to get involved, call the branch secretary on 01275 818317.
