Kind-hearted Portishead volunteers pitched in to help the town’s youth club.

Members of Portishead Lions Club gave up their free time to spruce up tired and rusty railings at Portishead Youth Centre, which were in 'urgent' need of repair.

A Lions club spokesman said: "We were happy to rise to the challenge and quickly did a survey to see what repairs were needed before we started painting.

"Over a few days a team of five Lions worked to rub down, undercoat and repaint all the railings."

Kimberley Jones, youth centre manager, was delighted with the outcome.

She said: "We are so thankful to the Lions club for giving up their time and helping us.

"The repainting of the railings here was a huge task but everyone who came to help did an amazing professional job.

"Their commitment to helping the community is what helps organisations like ours thrive."
