Village homes plans move forward

Plans to build more than 50 homes once a Yatton business has moved, have progressed this week.
An outline planning application for 55 homes has been submitted by housing developer Redrow Homes. It concerns land off North End Road which is currently occupied by manufacturing company Oxford Instruments.
The brownfield site, which is more than a hectare in size, would be accessible from both North End Road and Wemberham Lane.
Planning permission for houses to be built on the Oxford Instruments site was initially granted in 2006. However, it is understood Redrow has submitted this latest application in order to allow the firm more time to find new premises.
In a letter submitted to North Somerset Council planners, a spokesman for Redrow Homes said: “The site is still occupied by a manufacturing company which will need to find an alternative site to relocate to before the land can be released for housing.
“This is likely to take some time, and therefore to secure planning permission for housing over a longer period, Redrow is making this further outline planning application.”
