Two members of Nailsea Town Council have resigned from their posts.
Helen Hamblin has stepped down as town councillor for the Nailsea West End ward.
No requests for an election have been made so the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
Anita Heappey has also stepped down as councillor for Nailsea’s Youngwood ward.
Residents can request an election to fill the vacancy by writing to the Returning Officer at Town Hall, Walliscote Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1UJ by July 6.
The request has to be made by 10 residents from the ward, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
If an election is called, it will take place before September 10.
At a meeting on June 27, Nailsea Town Council will discuss whether to wait to see if an election is called for the new vacancy or if both will be filled by co-option at the same time.
