Almost 50 people turned out for Turn The Tide's clean up at the marina.

Dozens of volunteers gave up their free time at the weekend to clean up Portishead’s marina.

Turn The Tide (TTT) hosted the clean up on Saturday, which saw 48 hardy helpers brave the biting wind to spruce up the marina.

The volunteers collected eight bags of rubbish, five bags of recycling and bizarre items including underwear ditched on the seafront.

A TTT spokesman said: “Thank you to all the fabulous people who helped at our clean around the marina.

“Unusual finds included dog balls, dummies, underwear, and so many fake plants which we assume were damaged by the wind from people’s balconies.

“Most of the rubbish was recycling items; most likely blown from recycling boxes so we remind you to buy a bin net from either the library or Carey’s. They make such a difference.”
