VISITORS to Tyntesfield will have the rare opportunity to graft one fruit tree to another on Saturday when an orchard expert visits the estate.

Geoff Jones, who has more than 40 years of orchard experience, will be on hand to give advice on how to care for the trees and visitors are invited to bring their own scions if there is a type of tree they would like to replicate in their garden.

Nicole Daw, engagement ranger for National Trust, said: “It is lovely to think as our orchard at Tyntesfield grows and matures all these other little trees will be doing the same.”

The workshop will take place from 9.30am-1.30pm and tickets, priced at £40, include tea and cake from the Cow Barn Kitchen. To book call 08442 491895.
