Public transport users in North Somerset and Bristol will be rewarded under a temporary new initiative.

The commuter challenge, launched on June 4 by Travelwest, encourages people to use public transport as a way of getting to work.

Commuters can also choose to walk, cycle or car-share through the free scheme.

People are invited to track their daily commute through the Betterpoints app which gives users the chance to earn rewards.

Bettertickets, collected when travelling to and from work, are then entered into a weekly prize draw to win BetterPoints – which can be exchanged for high street vouchers or donated to
charity. Travelwest is giving away £7,000 worth of prizes, including £600 in cycling accessories and £1,000 worth of Love2Shop vouchers.

The challenge runs until July 22.

To take part, download the Betterpoints app from Apple’s App Store or from the Google Play Store.
