Train line blocked after person struck on track

A person has been struck by a train this morning (Monday) causing significant disruption on rail services.

Trains between Weston-super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads, including those stopping at Nailsea and Yatton, are affected, according to Great Western Railway.

A spokesman said: “Due to a person being hit by a train between Weston-super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads all lines are blocked.”

Delays of ‘up to 90 minutes’ and some cancellations are possible, according to GWR.

While it is hopeful the line will reopen soon, Nailsea & Backwell Railway Station will remain closed.

A bus replacement service will be in operation instead.
