Tens of thousands will be spent on replacing traffic lights at a busy junction with work set to begin later in the month.
The traffic lights will be replaced at the junction of the A38 Bridgwater Road and Barrow Street, in Barrow Gurney.
The work, which is set to begin on March 11, is part of North Somerset Council’s £1.8million road improvement scheme.
It includes provision to replace high voltage equipment throughout the district in a bid to lower energy consumption.
Cllr Elfan Ap Rees, executive member for highways, said efforts will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
The deputy leader said: “We anticipate that the works will take two weeks to complete and temporary traffic lights will be in use until the new lights are up and running.
“There is always the chance there may be some congestion and delays, but we will do all we can to keep them to a minimum.”
The work will be carried out at a cost of £33,000.
