JUDGES of the South West in Bloom contest were treated to music in Central Park as they toured Portishead inspecting the work carried out by Portishead in Bloom.

Volunteers worked into the night on to ensure the town looked its best for judges Terry Porter and Carol Wride, who spent three hours viewing the town on Thursday morning.

They visited a variety of sites from Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve to Rodmoor Gardens and Portishead Open Air Pool, admiring this year’s blooms which followed a hot pink, lilac and burgundy theme. The music at Port Marine was provided by North Somerset Community Brass band.

Volunteers now eagerly await the South West in Bloom results, which will be announced at a ceremony in Newquay, Cornwall, on September 15.
