A PORTISHEAD war hero was remembered in a tree planting ceremony on Sunday.
Silver birch trees were planted at the top of Roath Road, close to where squadron leader Tommy Broom was born in 1914.
The World War Two veteran, involved in 83 sorties and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross three times, lived in Portishead all his life and died last year aged 96.
The planting ceremony was attended by friends and family, members of the Royal British Legion and chairman of Portishead Town Council, Reyna Knight.
Portishead in Bloom hopes to install a bench next to the trees in Mr Broom’s memory.
