A primary school’s headteacher has resigned.
Tristan Merriam stepped down at Tickenham Primary School, in Clevedon Road, on Friday to 'take up a new challenge in business', the Times has been told.
Mr Merriam took over as the school's head in 2016 and he oversaw the school reduce its class sizes in 2017, with lessons as small as nine youngsters in year six to allow teachers to spend more time with individual pupils and speed up their learning.
Rumours Mr Merriam left his job due to year six students having their Key Stage Two (KS2) SATs tests results annulled in 2018 as there was 'significant doubt' over their accuracy and correctness were categorically denied by the school.

The primary school was also named a 'good' school with 'outstanding features' by Ofsted in 2017 under his stewardship, with inspectors noting the school's 'fantastic culture' helped make children feel 'safe and able to achieve'.
