Organisers have been blown away by the success of their ‘phenomenal’ inaugural community event.
Tickenham hosted its first open gardens day on Sunday where hundreds of people viewed some of the parish's most impressive green spaces.
Villagers had been busy for weeks preparing their lawns and borders to showcase their design and planting talents.
Around £1,500 was raised for charities Brown Rock Woodland Project, which assists young people with mental illness in the village and Alive, which promotes gardening in residential care homes.
John Banks, open gardens chairman, said: "It was phenomenally successful, we had hundreds of people visit and the village hall ran out of parking spaces and refreshments.
"We expected rain and despite a fairly dull day, it did not put people off.
"There are definitely plans to do this again and find more stunning gardens within Tickenham."
