North Somerset may be hit by thunderstorms this week, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning.

Stormy weather is predicted from 6am on Thursday, along with heavy downpours.

However, it is expected to clear by 6am on Friday – all good signs ahead of the Nailsea and Backwell Beer Festival.

The chief forecaster said the storms may miss many places, but where they do develop, intense downpours are likely which could bring about flooding.

Lightning and hail could also develop, prompting the Met Office’s yellow weather warning.
