MUSICAL concerts held in Clevedon and Portishead have raised nearly £2,000 for good causes.

Organised by choir leader Wendy Sergeant, the event at the united reformed church in Portishead on July 10 featured members of Portishead Community Choir and Bold Brass. The concert raised £1,000 for the North Somerset branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The second concert, also organised by Wendy Sergeant, was held at St Mary’s Church in Clevedon on July 17.

Members of Portishead in Harmony, Clevedon A Cappella and Clevedon Sing Your Socks Off performed.

Members of the Clevedon group for people with dementia, Singing for the Brain, also sang their favourite songs.

This concert resulted in £936 being raised for Children’s Hospice South West and the Alzheimer’s Society.
