Portishead town centre was packed with thousands of people as the Victorian Evening proved a major hit once again.

The traditional fair has in recent years been switched to a Sunday night and the move to a weekend slot looks to be an inspired decision judging by the large turnout.

A helter-skelter and other fairground rides were set up along the High Street.

Stalls sold treats too, while games including a lucky dip and a raffle were also organised.

While the Victorian Evening is all about having fun, it does play an important role in promoting good causes that otherwise may not grab the limelight.

The RNLI and Freewheelers blood bikes team allowed people to look at their machines and collected money, while volunteers from Portishead Youth Centre sold sweet treats to raise cash for its activities.
