A GRAND ball and auction raised more than £12,000 for the Portishead and Bristol Lifeboat.

The event at Cadbury Doubletree Hilton in Congresbury is the third successful grand ball organised by volunteers at the trust.

A spokesman for the organisation said: ““We are still in shock at how much money was raised from this event and can’t thank everyone enough for their amazing support.”

Toby Pinn, from Clevedon Sale Rooms, who presented an entertaining auction which alone raised £7,000, said: “With many people having to tighten their belts at the present time it was remarkable to witness the overwhelming generosity and enthusiasm of bidders keen to support the Portishead Lifeboat.”
