Third birthday for farmers’ market
HUNDREDS of shoppers milled around Crown Glass Place trying out the different products and dishes on offer at Nailsea Farmers’ Market.
The successful market was celebrating its third anniversary on Saturday and the popular stall-holders drew in hundreds of shoppers.
The shopping centre was decorated with balloons and bunting and cheese, wine, bread, meat, produce, baked goods, jams and preserves were just some of the tasty treats on offer.
Extra stalls selling strawberries and a hog roast were also added to the line-up while folk singers Rob the Rich entertained shoppers.
The craft market, which runs at the same time in Somerset Square, has also been running for two years, and had booked street dancers to entertain visitors.
Waitrose and stall-holders donated prizes to the raffle and the supermarket also provided the sellers with flutes of champagne.
Gina Provis, manager of Nailsea Farmers’ Market, said: “The market is becoming more well-known and more popular. I get more enquiries to join the market from producers but we’ve only got 22 canopies so we are a bit restricted.”
The anniversary event raised �74 which will be put back into running the market.
