A Clevedon theatre school is celebrating an exciting to move to a 'wonderful and quirky' new venue - and is calling for young talent to join the group.
Re: Act Theatre has schools in Clevedon, Weston and Burnham and offers classes in dancing, acting and musical theatre for pupils aged five to 18 years old.
They put on a host of big productions throughout the year and collaborate with a charity each time to give something back to the community.
And now the Clevedon school is hoping to become ‘even more professional’ as it re-locates from Yeo Moor Primary School, in Kennaway Road, to the Theatre Shop, in Triangle Centre.
The Theatre Shop is a rehearsal and events space which is used regularly for local performances.
The move is a result of the company working with North Somerset’s arts development charity Theatre Orchard.
The charity’s aim is to encourage more performing arts and theatre in North Somerset.
Natalia Barrett, director of Re: Act, told the Times she is hoping to see a surge of members as a result of the move.
She said: “This is a prime location in the town centre and it is great to be able to work with Theatre Orchard as we all want the same things.
“We always say we don’t treat the pupils as children, but as small adults.
“By using this space, they will feel more professional and we hope by moving from the school, we can grow.
“We put on big shows all year round so for the students to have this space to rehearse in is going to be fantastic and exciting for them.
“This is just one of the big things we have planned. We want the school to be as big as possible and get talented young people to perform regularly.
“It is all about kids getting involved in Somerset.”
The group are currently rehearsing for their next show, which is the pantomime Aladdin.
