A sea shanty band has given £1,000 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Barnacle Buoys spent the weekend taking part in events in Portishead and Clevedon.

They also presented a cheque as a result of their recent fundraising exploits.

A spokesman said: “The Barnacle Buoys had a busy weekend.

“On Saturday they had great fun singing at Portishead Carnival and on Sunday were singing on Clevedon Pier where they handed over a cheque for £1,000 to CHSW, which is one of their chosen charities.”

The band practise most Wednesday evenings at The Old Inn in Clevedon.

They have released two albums, Maiden Voyage and Clevedon Bay which was launched earlier this year.

The group has so far performed more than 40 shows.
