PORTISHEAD Youth Club is to close for two weeks.

Youth workers made redundant by North Somerset Council have been offered jobs by the centre’s management committee and the period of closure is to allow necessary changes to take place.

Alan Rowe, who has worked at the centre as a senior youth worker for more than 21 years, will take up the post of centre manager.

Although the youth club will be closed from March 30, the centre caf will remain open to the public, including young people, from 11am-6pm Monday to Friday and at weekends from 2pm-5pm. It will, however, be closed over the Easter weekend.

When evening sessions reopen on April 16, the youth club will run on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7-10pm for those aged 11 and over. Thursday night sessions will be open to youngsters aged 10-15, allowing those in year six to get their first taste of the youth club.
