SWIMMERS will be battling against each other as the 19th annual swimathon is put on in Portishead this year.
To be held on April 25, the event sees teams of competitors take to the water to raise money for good causes.
The 2015 swimathon was launched on Monday, when organisers from Portishead Rotary Club gathered with BBC presenter Jemma Cooper at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre where the contest will take place.
Last year’s swimathon saw 91 teams and 550 swimmers taking part, with £11,500 raised in total.
This year, donations will be divided between the RNLI Portishead boathouse appeal and St Peter’s Hospice. However, teams can also choose to keep half of the money they raise for their own club or group.
For more details and to sign up for the swimathon, which starts at 1.30pm, contact Mollie Young on 07788 590371 or at email@example.com
