HUNDREDS of film fans turned out to watch a poignant film about domestic violence, starring and made by people from Clevedon.

Survivors, written and directed by Mark Baker, was screened at The Curzon Community Cinema on November 20 and was well-received by those affected by domestic violence.

Mark, aged 44 from Clevedon, decided to create the film to raise awareness of domestic abuse and contacted charities in the field to make it as realistic as possible.

He said: “The screening was a fantastic night.

“A lot of victims who watched the film approached me at the end and said they thought I had got it right.

“It was amazing that all these people came to see the film.”

The screening was such a success, with more than 200 people attending, and Mark now hopes the film will be shown again at the Curzon.

Survivors was filmed in Clevedon and stars Clevedon actors, Rosanne Forrest Gover and Chaz Boulden, in the main parts.

All the cast worked for free and all profits will be donated to the North Somerset group, SEEDS – Survivors Empowering and Educating Domestic Abuse Services.
