A Pill-based cancer charity will hold its annual afternoon tea party next month.

Penny Brohn Cancer Care, based in Chapel Pill Lane, will welcome actress Suranne Jones who will attend the London event on October 18 as a patron for the charity.

The event will take place at exclusive members’ club, Shoreditch House, in the Hackney area of the city where guests will be treated to champagne, sandwiches, tea and scones while raising money for the charity itself.

Suranne said: “I’ve seen first hand how Penny Brohn’s unique approach can change attitudes towards living with cancer and helps people and their families through difficult and challenging times.

“The charity is wonderful and we hope this tea party and future events will raise much-needed funds to help the team continue its amazing work.”

Suranne will also host a charity auction featuring prizes including a Henry Holland designer bag and a two-night stay in a bed and breakfast on the French island of Alderney.

Sarah Crooks, the charity’s special events manager, added: “Every penny raised will help Penny Brohn Cancer Care continue its life-changing work for people with cancer and their supporters, so please book early to avoid disappointment.”

Penny Brohn’s daughter, Jess, will also be attending the event.

Tickets cost £50 each, or £450 for a table of 10 people, and can be booked by calling 01275 370081, emailing info@pennybrohn.org or clicking here
