Streets shut for resurfacing after roadworks delayed

Roadworks will be carried out today (Wednesday) across the district, after North Somerset Council delayed work scheduled yesterday ‘due to rain’.

Resurfacing work is being carried out on the B3133 Kenn Road, between the village and Clevedon, as well as Frost Hill and Smallway between Yatton and Congresbury. The routes will be shut as a result.

North Road in Abbots Leigh will also be closed while the work is carried out.

All the roads are due to reopen by 3.30pm.

North Somerset Council says the work needs to be carried out on a dry day.

Cllr Elfan Ap Rees said: “Surface dressing is a major part of our annual maintenance programme.

“It extends the life of the road by up to 10 years, protecting it from water damage and preventing it from worsening and needing a much more expensive repair in the future – making it an effective and efficient road treatment.

“It also enhances the skid resistance of the road surface, improving road safety.”
