AREAS of North Somerset could flood this weekend, just days after it was hit by snow.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for this afternoon (Fri) and Sunday amid fears heavy rain and melting snow could lead to localised flooding.
More than 60 schools and children’s centres were closed a week ago following three inches of snowfall and a further flurry settled on Wednesday.
Warmer temperatures have melted most of the snow but have left many areas saturated.
Light rain is expected today from 3pm and weather experts fear it could lead to flooding on already saturated land.
On Sunday heavier rain is expected with an estimated 10-15mm due to fall in most places and up to 40mm on higher ground.
Both warnings are currently at the yellow stage – the lowest of the three severity categories the Met Office uses.
