CHILDREN had the chance to meet members of the emergency services during an activity day in Nailsea.

The Nailsea and Backwell Children’s Centre in Pound Lane was the venue for a Stay Safe in the Summer event, aimed at teaching youngsters about topics including beach safety, road safety and fire safety.

During the stay and play sessions, representatives from the RNLI took along one of their lifeboats for children to see, PCSOs talked to the youngsters about bike safety checks and being safe on the roads and members of Avon Fire and Rescue service also went along.

The children also learnt about looking after their teeth during the summer when they may enjoy sweets and fizzy drinks.
