THE face of a Portishead pensioner has appeared on an American stamp.
Stan Thomas, of Roath Road, was surprised to receive a letter which contained an American Stamp with his face on it.
The letter from his 27-year-old grandson Edward Robertshaw, who lives in San Francisco, explained he had entered a competition nominating his grandfather as the subject for a new stamp, for which 50,000 had now been printed.
Stan, aged 82, said: “No-one was more surprised than me to see my face on an American stamp but I am very proud that Edward nominated me.”
