ORGANISERS of Portishead’s Victorian Evening are looking for stallholders to take part in this year’s event.
The festive street fair, which will take place on December 14, is one of the main fundraising activities for the town’s extensive Christmas illuminations. The High Street is closed to traffic and transformed in to street fair of times gone by, with shops staying open late and community groups, charities and craftspeople lining the street with stalls. People are invited to dress in period costume and carol singers and traditional musical entertainment will take place throughout the evening.
Portishead Christmas lights committee spends thousands of pounds each year on the popular festive display and are gradually replacing all the old bulbs with low energy LED bulbs, which means even more funds are needed.
Lights spokesman Barry Randall said: “Fundraising activities take place all year round for the lights, which are organised by a band of volunteers. The Victorian Evening however, is one of the main events, so we hope residents of the town will support it in whatever way they can.”
To book a stall, call Lorraine Schneider on 844956 or email lorraineschneider@gmail.com. Street entertainers or anyone who can offer traditional musical entertainment at the event (in keeping with Victorian Times) should call Tracey Fowler on 01275 844868 or email tracey.fowler@btinternet.com
