Colleagues from a house-building firm have raised more than £16,000 for a children’s hospice by taking on a year of challenges and sponsored events.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley chose Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) in Wraxall as its charity of the year.

One group from the company, called Severn Valley Runners & Riders, raised more than £10,000 by completing a number of events including the Bristol 10k, Two Tunnels Half Marathon, Wales In A Day and a London to Paris cycle challenge.

Managing director Steve Roche said: “It is an immense achievement to not only hit last year’s fundraising total but to beat it, and I am incredibly proud of everyone who contributed in any way.

“Sponsorships from these events and challenges have had a huge impact on the fundraising total. This group really went the extra mile for the cause.”
