A bowling club has donated more than £1,000 to St Peter’s Hospice to fund its vital work with terminally ill patients.

The majority of the funds were raised during the Wards Charity Crown Green Cup, which saw Nailsea and Congresbury bowling clubs go head to head in a competition.

It was the only crown green game to take place in the South West and Nailsea won the match.

The event was sponsored by Wards Solicitors and a number of local businesses also donated prizes for the raffle.

Additional events at Nailsea Bowls Club in aid of the captain's charity, St Peter's Hospice, bolstered the final amount to £1,121.

St Peter's Hospice's community fundraiser, Sophie Cullinane, said: "We're always extremely grateful for our fundraisers who help to make our work possible.

"Thank you to Nailsea Bowls Club for their amazing efforts."
