NAILSEA and Backwell Beer Festival is teaming up with Penny Brohn Cancer Care this year to celebrate the charity’s 35th anniversary.

The popular event is now in its 12th year and has raised more than £62,000 for charities during that time.

Organisers will be giving 20 per cent of the profits from the festival to Penny Brohn Cancer Care in Pill and the money raised in the children’s village to Children’s Hospice South West in Wraxall.

The beer festival will be taking place at Nailsea and Backwell Rugby Club, in West End Park, from July 10-12.

The event is held in a 150ft marquee and boasts 160 different beers and ciders as well as live music all day Saturday and Sunday, a children’s village with slides, bouncy castles and side shows and food stalls including a hog roast, barbecue, a veggie stall and a wine and Pimm’s tent.

Last year’s festival was a huge success with record numbers of people attending and £11,500 was donated to the Children’s Hospice South West.

Businesses can now sign up to sponsor a barrel which will involve their company’s name being displayed on the keg and free tickets to festival.
