SPACE Hoppers replaced donkeys as the wet June weather caused Backwell’s annual donkey derby to move venues.
Organised by 1st Backwell Scout Group, the event on Saturday was due to be held at Backwell Lake but the wet ground meant it was moved to Backwell School.
Instead of the donkeys more commonly seen on Weston beach, competitors raced against each other on inflatable Space Hoppers. Visitors also had the chance to take part in activities including welly wanging and a coconut shy.
