A GROUP of Clevedon teenagers have been slumming it to find out how some of the world’s poorest people live.
Slum Survivor was run by Clevedon Family Church over the weekend, with participants sleeping out in self-made shelters in the church car park in Albert Road from Friday until Sunday.
Those taking part also enjoyed a basic diet of rice and beans and were only allowed to have one set of clothes for the whole weekend.
Interactive activities were enjoyed during the day and guest speakers also talked to the youngsters about the various charities and agencies involved in tackling third world poverty.
To be involved with the challenge, the teenagers had to collect sponsorship that was split between the Blythswood Trust, which provides help for people in need across Europe, Africa and Asia, and Peter’s Net Project, which is based in Colombia and provides modern equipment and training for local fishermen.
