Sleeping rough for homeless

Scouts dressed in their warmest winter clothes and made shelters out of cardboard boxes to raise money for a homeless charity.
The 40-strong group from 1st Backwell Scouts camped outside the WI Hall to raise awareness of homelessness and collect money for Emmaus, which supports homeless people in Bristol.
Troop leader Iain Rhodes said: “Having visited the charity earlier in the year, many of the scouts said they wanted to do something more for those affected by homelessness.
“It’s all too easy for us to turn a blind eye to the issue of sleeping rough while tucked up in our comfortable homes, so it’s great the troop want to raise the issue.”
Emmaus gives homeless people somewhere to live and a job in a social enterprise so they can rebuild their lives.
