Singing policemen donate to charity

SINGING policemen have raised more than 1,600 for a North Somerset children’s charity.

Police officers and personnel from Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s headquarters in Portishead held a musical concert entitled A Policeful Christmas in December to collect cash for Children’s Hospice South West.

As a result, a cheque for 1,696 has been handed to the charity, which runs Charlton Farm in Wraxall.

Jeff Martin, who organised the event, has thanked the many sponsors that donated items and raffle prizes to the evening.

Paul Carpenter, a member of the band MLC and an employee at the Portishead HQ, said: “All of the performers really enjoyed the concert again this year and we are happy to give up our time for such a great local charity.”
