Plans to build a bungalow on one of Portishead's narrowest roads have been refused by North Somerset councillors.
A planning application was submitted by Juniper Homes Ltd for a two-bedroom bungalow last year at the old Silbury site in Battery Lane.
A block of seven flats has already won planning permission on the same site and the bungalow was proposed to sit behind it.
However, the plans which upset a number of neighbours, were refused by North Somerset Council on February 14.
The planning committee said: “The proposed dwelling would result in a backland form of development which will be out of character with the existing pattern of development of the area, and would have a detrimental and harmful impact on the character and appearance of the area.”
Councillors also felt an additional bungalow would negatively affect the future owners of the flats, and that the development may have seen trees felled.
