SENIOR citizens from Portishead and the surrounding villages put their glad rags on for an annual supper at the town’s Somerset Hall.
More than 100 diners aged 65 to 101 attended the event, which was the result of a year’s hard work and planning by volunteers, with support from the Portishead police team.
The evening included a three-course meal, speeches and entertainment by Portishead Community Choir and Portishead Ceilidh Club.
Senior resident Margaret Marshall of Orchard Close said: “I think I speak for lots of people when I say we had a marvellous time and would like to thank the organisers and helpers for all their hard work.
“Some of the older people live alone and can become quite isolated, this is an event they can look forward to, where they can meet people and enjoy some company.”
