ST PATRICK’S Day was one to remember for more than 200 pensioners in Portishead and Pill.

Older residents were invited to don their glad rags for the annual senior citizens’ supper, organised by Portishead’s police team, which took place on March 17 at Gordano School.

Around 200 diners were treated to an action-packed night that included a three-course meal, speeches and a variety of entertainment.

Margaret Marshall of Orchard Close says she has been enjoying the annual event for many years and it is one of the highlights on her calendar. She said: “I think I speak for lots of people when I say we had a marvellous time and would like to thank the police for all their hard work.”

The event, which has been a tradition in the town for more than 36 years, was opened by police district commander Kay Wozniak who presented flowers to police widows.

The evening’s MC was Sergeant Terry Scoble who served in Portishead for many years before moving to a post in Bristol in 2009.
