Soapbox racing returns to Portishead for the third consecutive year.

With all the best bits from the 2018 track and some improvements and exciting new challenges, Portishead's 2019 soapbox derby promises to be the best yet.

The 450m downhill action packed course will include ramps, chicanes, a three level kicker and an awesome water splash.

Will the carts have what it takes to navigate the course without failure?

Visitors can watch for free on the seafront on Sunday July 14 where there will be plenty of viewing points from which to catch all the course action.

Stand at the roadside or sit on the grassy banks and don't worry if you can't see everything, the big screen will show you what's happening.

The open pit area will allow everyone to view all the soapbox cars up close whilst the teams tinker away to make them as amazing as possible before they take to the course.

In addition to the racing there will be children's funfair rides to keep the little ones entertained between the action on the course, while the sponsor event village presents an opportunity to meet the local businesses and charities that have helped support the soapbox race, as well as purchase refreshments.

Practice runs will start at 10am with the timed runs beginning at 12.30pm ending with a medal ceremony around 4pm.
