MORE than 100 vehicles were left gleaming after scouts in Backwell held a charity car wash event.

Members of 1st Backwell Scouts managed to raise £450 on March 16 by operating four car wash stations in the village and also selling hot drinks and bacon butties to football supporters at the recreation ground.

The money will be donated to FareShare, which supplies food to vulnerable and needy people. The group decided to raise money for the charity following a visit to its Bristol operation.
